Wild flowers

Bees provide us with an invaluable service by pollinating the plants we grow. From helping are favourite food and veg grow to ensuring the cycle of biodiversity keeps going, they are powerful little creatures. It’s important that bees have gardens where they have a variety of plants to flowers as well as shrubs and trees.

In this blog, we explain just a few easy ways that you can make your garden more bee-friendly.

Plant a variety of flowers

Different bees are attracted to different plants so be sure to plant a good variety in your garden. You should also avoid using pesticides as much as possible as they can harm bees and the environment. Instead, try planting different plants together such as marigolds and tomato plants as combined they will repel greenfly and blackfly.

Keep some areas wild

The best kind of environment for bees are areas that are left to grow freely. Let nature take its course by leaving one section a little wild. You won’t need to worry about weeding it, just leave it undisturbed and bees will love it. Soon enough you’ll have bees, insects, birds and other wonderful creatures enjoy your little patch.

Create a bee bath

As well as providing them with lots of pollen through the plants you grow, they also need a place to drink. Fill a shallow container with small twigs and pebbles so the bees have a place to land and add clean water. Make sure you change the water often so the bees know to return back whenever they need a drink.
